This morning was a record crowd for Wild Wally. It was a bit hairy running around the tree to head up the hill... I almost got trampled! I imagine that is what it is like in a triathalon going around the turn point. Dj and Liz Miller were zooming out the front ??? if a new course record was set? We had 5 reps this morning and I was quite curious how this would feel after changing yesterdays run. I did my extra warm up, ran to the hill, strides and drills. After some advice from steve about intervals... I decide I would again start a bit easier and wind up the intensity. I also decided that I would break the hill into sections and "attack" chunks of the hill... increasing the chunks each rep so that the final rep would be 100% the whole way. This worked really well. I also felt I was able to handle the up hill section much better on fresher legs. Each rep was faster and on my final rep I felt really strong. On the down hill section I noticed the new girl was slowing and I thought "right I am going to catch her!" She was about 50m in front and I put in a big surge and really worked hard to catch her... I think we crossed the line together. I gave her a big thankyou..... always easier to chase some one. My last rep was my fastest ever on WW..... 4 sec off a sub 3min lap :-)

Well done Kit, those are great times on Wild Wally. I was amazed at the number of people there this morning.. must have been like rush hour in London going around that tree!
Made me tired just reading your entry - Wild Wally would've killed me today! I am really tired today and found this morning's easy run a bit of a struggle. Hopefully I'll feel much better come tomorrow morning when I have a tempo run with hills to do.
Nice work Kit - nice descending times! And congrats on the lap PB too ;-)
wild wally ... hee hee
Mind you, nice to see you backing up for quicker and quicker splits like that.
Nice run today Kit. When you get to the taper you should get under 3 mins for Wild Wally if coach allows you to do it then.
I only dash off at the start to avoid the traffic jam at the tree. Well done on the pb.
Congrats on the WW PB Katie! That sounds like a really smart way to run, attacking the chunks, I might try it on our next hill session.
So you reckon the extra bit of rest helped?
Hi Kit, I love your story - hope I can run like you some day!
ok now i will go for a run.
well maybe not nowww but later for sure.
or tomorrow.
Kit, reading your blog makes me more excited about Canberra than ever. We're getting better all the time, aren't we :-) :-) Keep it up!
