Sunday long run

What a fantastic start to the day!! I decided to head off with the 7am striders group today and have a sleep in. This mornings run started at the Woolich peir and ran through Hunters Hill and some bush around Buffalo Creek and back. All up we ran about 16.5km in 1:39. We started off at a nice pace and ran fairly consistantly.... althought the km's through the bush were much slower (single file, rocks, low trees etc). On the way back Steve thought we should us the run for some hill training ( who brought him!). I protested that I was doing hills tommorow and had planned on plodding my long run.... fell on deaf ears :) I surprised myself and was able to really pick it up and averaged between 4:30-5:00/km most of the last five kms. We practiced working the down hills and maintaing the up hills. I was very pleased with my final km at 4:30 pace. I really worked on maintaining my form and lifting my knees.
Finished a happy girl :)
Topped it off with hot raisin toast and a coffee.... YUM!

Distance: 16.5km
Time 1:39: 30
Average pace 6:00/km
Mood: Happy camper!

Hills tommorow~ hopefully the legs are not too tired!

Sounds like a lovely way to start a Sunday. Might have to show up to a STaR one day ;-)
