Homebush Star

Today 20.5km
Week: 70km
Month: 102km
Year: 1323km

I was undecided weather to run at Centenial park or head to the star at homebush.... given how wet the park would be I met Bernie at 6am for the 20km option at Homebush. It was dark and rainy when we started, but it stopped after about 25mins and held off for the rest of the run. It was quite windy and cold, but not too bad :-) I was soooo thankful that Bernie was there as most people were running the full 30km as the last run before Gold Coast. So us two girls stuck together and ran out 20.5km in 1hr 59mins. We maintianed a pretty good pace most of the run, although we were pretty tired and faded a bit towards the end. I felt pretty comfortable for the whole 20km, felt in a good rhythm.... but the old glutes were very tired by the 20km mark. It is amazing how quickly the body adjusts to the kms.... 3 weeks ago I ran 12km as my long run and it was exhausting. Today I feel great, although I will need a good stretch tonight! I have to say you appreciate a hot shower after 2 hrs in the wet and cold!!

So a big Woo Hoo!! This was a bit of a test this week.... 70km and 6 days of running. It is all feeling good. So if I can keep the core strong I might be on a winner! I am looking forward to Nowra on Saturday, although a little scared of this giant hill that we have to run twice. Hahaha.....the boys have to run in thrice, so it could be worse :-) I am going to try and add a few more hilly runs in from now in in preparation for city to surf and Sydney....hmmm maby a few more runs in Sydney park- that ought to do it!

Unfortunately no more races at Sydney park. Centennial Park was very wet this morning mostly when I ran around the oval up on Oxford St. You should do ok at Nowra. I was talking to Chris Truscott yesterday and he said the hills are about as bad as Sydney Park which is a relief.

Awesome Kit. I'm so pleased to see that you are back running well again. I remember seeing how much you were bursting out of your skin to run at the Striders at Lane Cove the other month.

Hello Kit

As we were heading back to station this morning from Concord Hospital I saw lots of Striders running towards Majors Bay Road. I am always of envious of others out running when I have to work !

I have a physio appointment on Tuesday morning for my silly achilles so probably will give SWEAT a miss. But I will definitely be there on Thursday - I love those hills.

wt :-)

So that's where you were this morning.
I saw everybody else at Centennial Park. I thought you slept in.

Great to see you there Kit, a good morning to mentally deal with the weather and get out and run. The conditions were kind to us and the rain just held off long enough!
