Another easy one....

Today: 4km
Week: 15km
Month: 35km
Year: 1048km

Nothing exciting to report, just another easy 4km run. It was a bit hotter today which was a nice reminder that the cooler the better for Sunday! Only 4 sleeps to go.... speaking of sleep, a few people had said I would find it hard to sleep in the week before the run but it is the complete opposite! I have been sleeping like a baby, and I am talking 9 to 10 hours worth! I started to increase my carbs today... but I am not feeling as hungry with the less km's. I am going to feel like a pig over the next few days :-(

In terms of my time goal I have decided to aim at 3:55. I am flattered at the ridiculous estimates that some of you have offered up but I certainly do not think they are doable. I have certainly visualised them....haha but running them is whole new ball game. I have looked at my recent 5km time, 10km time and my best half and think that 3:55 is a better goal. I put them all into the McMillian calculator and for all the times it estimates a 3:49 marathon, so I figure 3:55 is a little more conservative for the first attempt. If I manage a better time on the day... well that will just be icing on the cake. To tell you the truth just making the starting line for me is going to be such a good feeling and then to finish.... I am going to be estatic. If three years ago you had told fat Kit she would run a marathon ... she would have had another bit of chocolate and laughed! For me I still get a bit spun out at the fact that this is me doing this.... no one else but me! This past 6 months I have really put a lot of effort into my training and feel I could not really do much more.... that in itself is a huge achievement. I have enjoyed the whole lot and it has pushed me further than I have gone before. So this Sunday means a lot to me. It is sort of the culmination of years of effort to loose weight and reinvent myself. Running has helped me to grow and develop through challenging myself, through the great people I have met and by getting rid of some of the demons. So I am looking forward to facing this next challenge and hopefully kicking its butt!!!! So there you go cards are on the table..... I would like the time to be more exciting than 3:55.... but hey plenty of marathons ;-)

I hope to see you in the vicinity then for the first few kms as I try and pace the 4 hour group, before you tip-toe away. But... weather forecast for tomorrow is gales and snow. Let's hope that all blows away by Sunday.
And a cherry ripe or two after the marathon? (Don't tell strewth/cj I said that!)

But it IS exciting Kit - very, very exciting - can't wait to read that report of the 3.4x time you do ;-)

It's all beautifully set up now for a big run or 10 hr sleep-in Sunday.

Perfect target Kit. I can taste that St Henri claret now.

It's no less exciting to read about the final steps to the summit.

You've achieved so much Kit; it's very inspirational. You have worked so hard you deserve a brilliant race and I'll be proud of you whatever your time.. but I think you're going to be pleased with what you do. Can't wait.

I like 3:55 as a goal. Take it out steady and if you are feeling good then you can bring it home. Everything is done, sleep is good :)

Can't wait!

Plenty of more races in the future to get a good time.

For your first race don't put yourself under too much pressure. Just go out and enjoy it and I'm sure a more than acceptable time will come.

All the best.

What a great post Katie. Its good to put it all into perspective. Its still hard for me to believe "fat Kit" ever existed, even though I've seen the photos. Yours is such a fantastic story.

Ok just under 4hrs then. You are good to go and a cool day of 3-19 should help you. Good luck.
