A long one and a battle with Wild Wally

WEDNESDAY 15TH

Today:17km
Week: 37km
Month: 202km
Year:832km

Lovely long run this morning. Very dark when we set out, with a huge moon to guide us. We again stuck to the usual run around Centenial and Queens Park. The legs felt so much better today... soreness all gone. We started out nice and slowly and gradually picked up the pace as we progressed. We finished 17km in !he 35mins average pace about 5:36/km. My throat was still really sore and a bit chesty..... hopefully this does not get any worse. Off for another massage tonight with the wonderful Easy Tiger! All the training really feels to be coming together nicely. I am feeling stonger and recovering much quicker..... also getting used to the early mornings.

THURSDAY 16th MARCH

Today:10km
Week: 47km
Month: 212km
Year: 842km

I woke up this morning still feeling snuffly and a bit chesty. We had wild wally on the program, which is basically a 700m hill rep (steep up and gradual down). We do 5 reps with about 2min active recovery. I did my usual warm up and then we ran over to the hill. We did our drills and strides. I felt really good doing the strides and felt like I had some speed in my legs.... feels sooo nice :-)

There was a big group this morning so a bit hairy on the start. My plan today was to try and really attack the uphill for all 5 reps. sean announced to evry one that I was a "ledgend" at taking time off each rep.... THANKS nothing like a bit of pressure. So we did the first one and I worked hard on the uphill hoping this would not back fire now that Sean was expecting my times to all come down :-) I was really surprised how today that hill did not feel to bad. I was able to stick with Allison for most which was great. Now my best rep on WW is 3:09... so on my third I did a 3:05 and thought I could sniff a sub 3:00. So I said to my wonderful pacer Allison thats what my plan was.... 4th rep 3:00 on the dot. Ok time to dig deep.... I came hooning down the hill too scared to look at the watch and crossed the line and D'oh 3:00 on the nose again :-) At least I am consistant!! So next time :-)

Reps: 3:20, 3:14, 3:05, 3:00, 3:00

Great work on the hill Kit, those reps sound pretty darn fast to me :) - I'm still a bit scared of hills - but just gimme time...

I'm missing all the fun of big groups and the rep time pressure.

Even if your times blow out big time and you collapse in a heap, you're still a legend to me.

There is no stopping you at the moment Katie. You are on fire and training so consistently. It's all downhill from here as you head into the taper. You have done the work. You just have to make sure you relax and enjoy the experience on April 9. Can't wait to see you out there.

Way to go Kitty Kat! I hope you are going to allow yourself to get over this bug you seem to have caught soon! Just 23 more sleeps!

Katie, I never thought that I'd get jealous of someone's training, but you are doing so well, it's fantastic.
