Hills

Today: 10km
Week: 48km
Month: 125km
Year: 755km

I felt like crap this morning- sore throat, upset tummy and tired. Dragged myself out of bed because I wanted to see Ewn and Mark before the big race. I got to the park and did my warm up and while waiting for the others to arrive I was stretching and thought "I will just close my eyes for a minute".... I could have gone to sleep on my feet. I was feeling worried about doing big bertha... I seriously doubted that I could do the 10 laps- as demonstrated by my sighing. Allison and I decided we would just do it slowly. So with that in mind we set off... my plan to just keep Allison in front. We went through the first lap in 2:09 which was not slow for me.... but felt ok so thought I would just keep going and see what happens. This was a tough session.... felt really crapy and like a mack truck- both on the ups and downs. Then at about the 7th lap Allison stopped because of her sore ankle and I SOOOOO wanted to stop, but with Sean, Ewan and Mark standing there and no good excuse I just kept plodding. I kept looking at my watch and thought " great not only am I running crap I have stuffed up my watch"... then I was pleasantly surprised when Sean yelled the same split too me and said I was on pace for a pb for big bertha. Then the last lap I just dug in and finished in 22:22.... just under 30 secs quicker than my best time in bertha! I was over the moon... and happy to have made the effort to get out of bed. Mark and Ewan were very relaxed... cruising up and down the hill chatting away.... ohhh to be that fit :-)

Good Luck to all the 6ft'ers! Enjoy the race and run safely... we want you back in one peice.

Splits: 2:09, 2:20, 2:14, 2:16, 2:15, 2:18, 2:13, 2:16, 2:14, 2:04

That's great Kit, despite not feeling good. Mind you, the thought of Big Bertha is enough to make anyone feel sick :)

Excellent work Kit - hope the throat doesn't develop into anything nastier.

Pretty good effort for someone who is feeling a bit under the weather. Take care now.

Thanks for coming out this morning.
You don't even need to try to get a pb these days. They just arrive.

See you soon.
