Brave Heart!

Today: 10km
Week: 10km
Month: 180km
Year: 1651km

This morning it was the brave and hardy that got out of bed and braved the rain and wind. I met Bernie and Wayne at the gates and waynes umbrealla almost blew away. It was pouring with rain and really windy and I was questioning our sanity!! We did a few laps of the oval wondering how we would manage 1600m reps in the mud. Sean decided instead we would do two laps of the park (3.7km) at 10km race pace with a 5 minutes active recovery. I felt great in the first lap and the pace felt easy to maintain.... but I was not sure I could do 2 laps at that pace. I decided to not back off and just try to hang on in the second rep. Parts of the path were completely flooded and almost ankle deep water.... the shoes felt about 5kg heavier. As soon as I started the 2nd rep I knew it was going to be hard going. My breathing and cardio was fine but the legs were feeling the 32km run from Sunday and yesterdays gym work! I felt myself slowing 3/4 of the way through and just tried to hang on. I felt like I was going much slower but ended up 10secs slower than the first. I felt really satisfied at the end of the session.... I worked really hard on both reps and did not fade as badly as I thought in the 2nd rep. We only saw the backs of the fasties ever so briefly as they disapeared into the rain :-)

3.7km- 17:58, 18:08

You are so tough, training in those conditions. You will get so much fitter for it. Well done!!

Well done on toughing out the second lap, and seeing anything in the first lap.

I've already had a lunchtime nap.

Good on ya for getting out there in that weather Kit.

Its funny reading both yours and Bernie's blogs about the session you do at Sweat as they close to identical. One of these days you should trick us and write totally opposing stories :-)

what's all this nonsense about wind and rain? Absolutely gorgeous weather up here - but then it always is :P

I'm very impressed Kit. I woke at 6 this morning & could hear the wind & rain - my first thought: thank god I'm not running this morning, LOL

I am now praying that the pouring rain I can hear outside right now stops before tomorrow morning...

Great session; well done!

Great running this morning Katie. You did well to hang on in the second lap to finish not too far behind the time of the first one.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Kit.

Rob is training really well. After much nagging from me he has finally got some consistency in his training - he is now running 5 times a week and loving it! He runs with so much ease.
