First fartlek session for the year :-) We had a 5km fertlek.... surging at faster than 5km race pace and loating a bit slower. I started off a bit too fast but then settled into a nice comfy pace. On the 4th and 5th lap I worked with Linda to maintain our pace..... it is so much easier to work as a pair- not in a competitive way, just taking turns at settign the pace and encouraging the other person to keep with you. It really helps me to not slow towards the end of the session! Average pace for was 4:45/km- 5km time was 23:48. Splits 4:26, 4:43, 4:54, 4:54, 4:46 I felt satisfied with this as Sean said to aim for about 1 minute longer than our 5km race time...... pretty close (5km pb-22:20).

Well done Kit. That's interesting about the goal time for the fartlek. What distances were the fast & slower bits?
That fartlek is like a long sprint sometimes.
goo Kit ...goo goo ga ga.
That's my affectionate term of endearment.
Nice work as always Kit - well done ;-)
Good session Kit. Sounds hard though. Like you said, it's great to have a training partner to help with the pace.
Thanks Doo Juan, Thanks!
