Today: 8km

This morning we had the outside loop on the prgram but when we turned up we saw that sean was marking out the 1km loop which meant a tough session was on the cards. This fartlek session involves you surging and floating but the floats are meant to be a bit slower than 5km race pace.... so you end up working hard the whole session. I enjoyed this the last time we did it, but I get nervous when I know I have a tough one...I always worry I can't do it. Sean let those of us doing the cross country short course on Saturday do 4km instead of 7km. Once we got going I felt pretty good and decided to try and stick not to far behind Kulinda. I worked pretty hard to put in a good surge and my floats felt harder and harder. I averaged 4:40min/km and finished 19:16. Again once it was over I really enjoyed it! It is a nice feeling when you know you have put in a hard effort. My body felt a bit stiff today.... I did a fitball class which worked all the core muscles, so I need a good stretch!

you looked comfortable kit! although i am glad that i am not the only one who gets nervous before these things :)
Getting nervous at training? You must be a wreck before races. Don't worry, I'm exactly the same!
I couldn't believe how many slack-arses only did 4 laps. I thought I was seeing things as I ran past for the 6th lap with sweat and tears of pain welling up in my eye sockets.
You must all run absolute blinders on Saturday; no excuses for not bringing home the Bling or podium finishes.
No need to get nervous Kit. You just have to suck it and see. Because as you alluded to in your post, it is over very quickly and then you get to carry that feeling of achieving something pretty special with you for the rest of the day.
you will have to clue me in to what this fartlek is all about(did i spell it right or are you laughing your collective arses off right now)!!!
PS, the ribbons were bought today little sis..!!! xx
Great session Kit. Hope you have a good race on Saturday. More bling is needed.
I opened the comments on my blog and got a fright when I saw a scary looking man had left a comment.
Who is Raymond Rowell I thought? At least he is reading a good book.
Then the penny dropped....oh, that Ray.
It is a great read. Makes you want to get out there and conquer the world :-)
wildthing
I knew Ray's photo was scary; in fact I told him.
I must say I'm a bit shocked at the strong language used by other posters on your blog "great session" "comfortable" "pretty special" - whereas 'slack-arse' is very supportive and encouraging in my book.
Good luck today Kit - enjoy it & bring home some more bling!
