Saturday 10th March
Today 45km
Week: 67km
Month: 105km
Year: 815km
I am not sure how to put into words such an unbeleviable experience. I am still processing my thoughts and will blog in detail tommorow.
Lets just say I am ecstatic with my race and result. It all went like clock work and I loved it from start to finish. I was openly aiming at 5:45, secretly aiming at 5:30 and I shocked myself with a 5:15:34. I came 6th in my age category and 34th in my gender. I had a fall, crossed the river waist deep, caught and passed the sweepers, walked/ran Mini Mini and Pluvi and ran strongly almost all of the final 19km.
I am not sure if I am flattered or offended at the shock many expressed at my result..... but I know I feel incredibly satisfied and proud. I have worked so hard for this event and knew I had left nothing to chance. I lined up yesterday feeling sick with nerves.....not beause I was feeling unprepared or injured but I knew if I mucked it up there were no excuses.
I want to thank my sister and Ray so much for all there support and faith. They both knew my goal and believed I would do it. They reassured me pre race and reminded me how hard I have worked. I appreciate them soo much!!! My family are always there for me and I am not sure they realise how much they mean to me. I also want to mention a few of my favourite people who have supported, listened to my complaining, put up with my crazy ideas and bring the best out in me.... Deanne, Kerry, Bernie, Helen, Amanda- you girls are the best and I am so thankful to have you as friends. Ray and Bec took some great photos I will put up tommorow with my race report.
So operation Fairy Floss complete..... time for stage two!!

Fantastic effort Katie. I knew you were in for a big one the way you had been training. But I am still blown away by 5:15. Hope you enjoy your well earnt recovery.
Congratulations on a fantastic run! Can't wait to see what you get up to next :)
Sensational result Kit! Congratulations. All your hard work certainly paid off. Can't wait to read your race report & follow your next adventure!
Katie,
An absolute outstanding performance and achievement!
While the 5:15 might seem a bolt out of the blue for some you have been doing more of the hard yards in training than most and now you get to reap the dividends.
Your on going dedication is an inspiration and certainly I for one will be using your continuing progress as my own motivation to tilt at my windmills......
Congratulations Kit, great result. You made it look easy. Woohoo.
Gee you did well Kit. You've dropped off my Blog radar after all this Beta rubbish and after yesterday's effort I had to track you down. 5:15 is a cracking good time. To tell the truth I am even more impressed that it's on the back of a 345km Feb ! Huuuge !
Gooooo Katie!!!!! Hugest of huge congrats.
5:15 - unbelievable ... yet not surprising when I think about the amount of effort you put in to your training. And by the sounds of it you ran so sensibly.
I'm looking forward to the blow by blow description.
Meanwhile, take care, rest up and enjoy your recovery.
Great Time Kate, You deserve it!
Kitster - you looked fantastic when you passed me on Black Range.
That was an absolutely fantastic run - 5.15 is awesome - I too am looking forward to a longer report.
Well done Kit.
Congratulations Kit! It was good chatting with you on the start line to take a bit of stress away...Looking forward to your full report!
Well done Katie, I am really happy for you. Cant say I fall into the surprised category as you have been looking so strong at training lately. The big surprise was how you looked crossing the line, you made it look like you'd just done a walk in the park.
