Another rest day..

Well thankfully I slept much better last night, but still not feeling 100%. So I opted for another rest day. I mulled over whether to run this morning or not, and despite feeling REALLY guilty decided two days rest was better than getting sick or injured- I have to keep the big picture in mind! I am feeling much better today and am now itching to go for a run tommorow. It is amazing how caught up in all this training you can get.... I can not believe how guilty I feel for not doing my 'programed' runs. I have often said to others 'a few days of rest will probably do you more good than going for the runs'..... harder to follow my own advice :-) I spoke with Sean and he said it is abviously my body telling me to have a lighter week and not to worry about the two missed days. I felt like I was building a really good momentum.... so hopefully a few days rest will just add to this. So to all you experienced marathoners.... do you have these weeks where you feel a bit blah and flat? So I am looking forward to running tommorow and getting back to my Woo Hoo'ing self :-)

I'm sure a couple of days off will do you the world of good. You've been training so hard. Wait until tomorrow and I'm sure you'll be speeding round the park on DJ's tail!

Rest breaks are good. Better safe than sorry.

Hope you'll wait for me to catch up tomorrow.

Enjoy the rest. You really have to listen to your body sometimes, rather than be dictated to by a program. You will come back stronger.

You asked if marathoners have weeks like that .... well, I'm not sure about others but I know I do Katie.

A couple of days rest combined with lots of healthy eating is the solution. Best thing is you come back feeling really strong and will put in much better sessions than you would have if you just perservered feeling blah.

So it might even be a good thing :-)

I break sounds like the right thing Kit.

Katie, you have been training very hard for months on end. It is not surprising that you are feeling the pinch. You are doing the right thing by having a rest. A couple of days off to recharge the batteries will work wonders for you. I try to schedule in a lighter week once a month, either in distance or intensity.

You will bounce back stronger, well rested and more motivated. Looking forward to reading your next post Kit.

Ummm.... Do you think that maybe we're twins who were separated at birth? I had such a blah run this morning and I'm torn between taking Saturday off or sticking with the program. AAARRRGGGGHHH!!!!
