I headed out this morning to Centenial Park for my long run. It was a perfect morning- crisp and sunny. Once I got going I noticed the really strong wind blowing directly at me. It did'nt matter which direction I was running in it was right there! At one point it almost brought me to a standstill! I planned to do an hour on my own and then join up with Seans younger squad for an hour. It took me a while to get into a rhythm but then I felt pretty good...maintained a constant pace and enjoyed just being out in the sun. I was a bit disapointed to realise I had left my Gu at home because I knew the greyhounds would fly and I was sure to need an energy boost. Yes, as predicted the greyhounds took off at a million miles an hour and a few of us ran along just glimpsing them in the distance. Mark and Ewan were running well and left us for dust :) The second hour was tough but not as hard as I had predicted. By the 2 hour mark my legs were feeling very tired and I was sooo happy to finish! I felt really happy with my effort - overall ran 1hr 55min covering 21km. The great thing running with this group is that they never stop so it really helps to build your endurance. Now that I am home, eaten, drunk and had a hot bath I feel human again :) Also popped into Myers to see if they stocked my Asics- in luck! So I am very happy to have saved $52 on a new pair of shoes! I can't believe I have done over 800km already in my old ones... mine never seem to last much beyond the 800km mark, I must be rough on them :) I can always tell when I am due for a new pair because both feet get sore and I start to get niggles in my calfs ( thats my excuse anyway!!) Nothing like a bit of retail therapy!!
Time: 1:55
Distance: 21km

Well done on a great run in tough conditions! There is nothing like retail therapy to make you feel even better, is there ;-)
J.
You're right - our runs sounded almost identical. Though thank goodness I wasn't running with any greyhounds! Fortunately I hadn't forgotten my Gu and really appreciated it at the halfway point.
I'm also hoping to buy a new pair of runners - the funky Green Asics racers -they look so cool and i'm sure they must be fast because all the people i know who wear them are fast runners!
Another solid hitout for you there Kit. I can relate to running into the wind after yesterday. You are building plenty of endurance which will do you the world of good for Canberra next year. Hope the training continues to go well for you.
Nice run - well done Kit :-)
Well done on taking on the greyhounds.. it was bad enough having Vlad the whippet with us on Friday! New shoes are bound to make you even faster.. must try that myself:)
Glad you enjoyed the Lindt cafe as well.. that hot chocolate is just wonderful.. have to move to iced chocolate for the summer months though.
I like your new panel with the times in it.. you'll have to tell me how I can have one too!
