Today I decided to do some intervals on the cross country ski machine at the gym. It is almost the same movement as running but without lifting your feet, so there is no impact. I found that this really got my heart rate up and gave my hip and back no problems. After warming up I was cranking up the workload and then sprinting for intervals of 1 min with a few minutes in between on a lower intensity. I found this was an excellent work out and matched the movement and intensity of running. I felt fanastic after I finished... struggled a bit on my weights- I knew I had worked hard :) My hip today felt really good. It was quite stiff by the end of the day... lots of sitting, but it is definately no hurting when I walk or stand on one foot! So if it is ok tommorow I might aim for a short easy run on thusday to test it out before I see the physio on Friday. Fingers crossed!
Today:
30 mins- including warm up and intervals
Upper body weights
Glute exercises

I struggled on some of the weights today - not sure if it was just because I'm tired. Hope that hip/lower back problem is sorting itself out - though sounds like it might be. Not long til you're in Japan!
What a great workout Kit!! I love those cross country ski machines; used it all the time when I was having shin splint problems. Keep up your hard work and I'm sure your fitness won't have suffered by this short break.
You must be getting very excited; not long now until your holiday :-)

Way to Kit! I hope that you recover quickly. How many days until Japan now?!
Yay.. hope you'll be back with us soon.. we had a good session this morning. I really like the cross ski thingie too.. seems to give you a really good work-out with no impact.
I bumped into Kerrie the other day.. she's a member of my gym apparently.
What a fantastic banner, Kit!
Great workout on the X-C ski machine; I'm thinking it might be the same as the elliptical trainer at the gym here; anyhow, they both do a good job with the heart rate without working the injured bits!
Hmmm might have to try that myself! Glad to hear the hip is coming along. Look forward to reading about your run on Thursday.
