CR Challenge

Friday 28th October

Today: 6km
Week:51km
Month:270km
Year:2399km

Met the girls this morning for a easy 6km run around the park. We checked on the geese....they think we are stalking them!!! I could not find any ribbons so I found a very noice pink flower for the hair....almost got sighted by radio national who were broadcasting in the park ;-) The girls are very hard to satisfy and feel that as nice as the flower was it is not a ribbon.... so watch this space for the ribbon debut.

We did the CR 5km cahleenge this morning and I was quite excited because I had felt so good on thursday I wanted to have a good run today. I had decided to aim for 23mins (my best is 22:35). It was sooooo windy at the bay and the first 3km were into a really strong headwind. At one point I almost felt stationary!!! I was having to work twice as hard to maintain my pace. I felt good from the start and did the first km in 4:23.... the next two kms were slower thanks to the wind and then I tried to make up some time in the 4th km. I thought that was it for the wind, but as I ran under the bridge into the last km bang there was the wind again! the fast guys were passing me with 400m to go and I was trying to use them to drag me along. finished in 23:30 and felt really happy with my time given the wind. I felt pretty good running and my new shoes were heaven!!! Average pace was 4:40/km. It was so nice to be feeling back to my usuall self today :-)

On a side not the violin is going well!!! My lesson was heaps of fun and I have been practicing away..... I can only imagine how bad it must sound for Ray!!! So I am becoming an expert at Twinkle Twinkle little star...... it is quite the performance :-)

Well done on the 5km.

What were the new shoes, or have I been innocently misreading your blog again?

I'll listen out for twinkle twinkle little star down at Circular Quay.

Lucky violins don't travel that well.

Sean just wants you to wear the ribbons - you really ran 2:59 for that last WW.

That was a good 5k race - the sub-1:45 half is on.

great run in that nasty wind katie - sorry i wasn't there to watch! so perhaps we can get our first official performance at the CR christmas party? twinkle twinkle would be quite appropriate, or maybe a nice christmas carol :)

see you tuesday!!

I'm glad I missed out then if it was that windy... I've enough to deal with as it is! I'm sure you'll soon be ready for a concert performance... I'm standing by as the accompianist.

Great to see you're running well again Katie. I think we forget how much those marathons take out of us, it takes such a long time to really recover.

Hey, maybe you can 'YouTube' a violin performance for us :-)
